The night loomed as Sen sat in bed across from Brin. A commotion sustained throughout the village for much of the remainder of the day, and though she was curious as to the cause, she thought it best to lay low.

Eventually, her mother returned, her father in tow, both with looks of exasperation on their faces. They peered into Sen and Brin’s bedroom and quietly approached. Their gazes were affixed to Sen, and their eyes filled with apprehension and concern.

Sen arced her head toward them, biting her lower lip nervously. “What’s wrong?”

“Was it worth it?” her mother asked.

“Can I not defend my little brother whenever a certain shit rears his ugly head?” Sen asked abrasively.

“By all means, you’re encouraged to,” her father smiled, before his tone became grim once again. “But anything you do to him…just remember that there will be equal retaliation from Koelhe.”

“…Why? What did she do?”
